Mississippi: Healthy Student Act

Striving to further the focus on school health, the Mississippi legislature passed the Mississippi Healthy Students Act in April, 2007 to address the overall health concerns within a local school. To support and enable successful implementation of school health programs and policies, the members of the Mississippi Dash-funded team have provided several training opportunities within the last two years for teachers and other school staff in Mississippi. In 2008 and 2009, Mississippi has provided:
● Three CDC School Health Index workshops training approximately 168 school staff
● Three PECAT Workshops training approximately 100 school staff
● Two HECAT workshops training approximately 60 staff
● Seven NASPE Pipeline Courses training approximately 75 people
● Two Nutrition Education workshops training approximately 80 people
● Eight Physical Education workshops training approximately 225 people.
